Description
it's been awhile since I posted anything, Happy to post something new. People haeve asked me where I get my inspiration from and how I draw, I posted some of my proces as I went this time to give you an idea, as for the ideas, media mostly. I am working on a series right now so things will seem a little similar at times characters will repeat and make appearances, while Telus commercials seem to inspire the latest animals I chose. This is more realistic than my normal posts, but still improvised.Amoeba did another wonderful painting, its well worth seeing she is by far the most amazing person I know. I think it's time you push yourself out of your comfort zone. I'm not saying do what everyone else does, but take your particular style of stroke and try something different. Perhaps a new angle or some dynamic perspective. More obvious directional lighting/contrast. Or maybe a sense of speed/motion. Try adding an emotional aura rather than just a portait shot of a scene. You could still produce the same subjects even, just present them in another manner.
Don't let the endless 'oohs' and 'ahhs' of GFX distract your from search of continuous growth. What you do is good, but can be alot better, and I think you have the ability to pull it off if you try.

as always, nice characters
but i have to agree with Brett...try something new as this subject is imo a bit too exploited already
dont get me wrong, i love your sketchy style but sooner or later people will get bored
you should follow Brett's suggestions...all i can add is more attention and patience on shading...don't just give it an overall tone...give it volumes through a more softer shading and tonal varioation on the same shape...try and soften your lines and crosshatching more

Good luck with the nominations!
And all the contrary to WysiWyg I never find Ansel Adams boring!
After 30 years I still look at his books to remind me what a Beautiful black and white should look .

It's also one of the most polished drawings in your gallery. The line quility is definitely better in this one. It reads very well.
To represent a more realistic, natural depth you would probably have to use a lighter tone for the background elements. However I quite like the way it looks now. Somehow the flatness feels purposefully designed, and makes the image look very stylish, like a modern twist for the organic lines. The composition just flows. It's very nice

He looks like my Uncle Albert !
The rest complicates the image for me !
But as I said painting and drawing is not my field.. my field is the one with the cows in it !!!
Good image.

Agree with Wysiwig
Still, I like this one because of it's wholeness. It's looks massive and solid.
The playfull shapes like the girl's big feet, make it a joyfull piece. It's a well balanced image and you've put nice detail in the trees and the koala. I kinda agree the koala's arm look a little weird where it touches the chest.
Nice you post the additionals. They show your talent and the way you work; no way I can draw a detailed koala face like that in 5/30 minutes.

As far as WYSIWYG's comments go, they apply to every artist. It isn't always easy, but how will we ever know if we can do something without trying. Even starting in small steps that may not be noticeable to all is worth the effort. It doesn't mean one has to change styles, but to expand on it, give it an evolutionary process. And evolution takes time, so don't become discouraged or impatient.

Art is subjective and the details are in the eyes of the beholder. What may look unfinished to one, looks phenomenal to another.
I believe that WYSIWYG's comments are unfair both to you and your talent.
I am also quite sure that back in the day, Picasso got the same sort of critiques from couch critics who have no business critiquing because their work is also subject to the eye of the beholder.
You are doing just fine. Let your imagination flow. I look forward to seeing more of your work. I have a feeling that you will go far with it.
