Description

I'e been away for awhile my grandma recently passed away and I've spent my time at the hospital until the moment came and went leaving me wanting more time. I took elements that my grandma gave me in life and applied it to this drawing, when I was at her house saying goodbye for the last time I noticed these overgrown mushrooms had taken over her yard so I thought to use them. My grandma tought me many things but one thing she always passed onlong was live your life and make the best of it, be patient, and kind, she was love and always will be, I love you grandma may God grant you a paradise unlike any other, until we meet again I dedicate this to you. Patience........

The characters name is Belle she is a Ranger from the story the Beautiful Gate, I think her job is pretty obvious.

A beautiful lesson she taught you :)
This pic is one of your most dynamic! The girls face is very expressive. You did a nice job with the lines, they are very true in this work and the weight is good, you got them to separate the background to the foreground nicely :)
Great job Aaron!

I too am sorry for your grandma. But talking about the drawing: I think it lacks in midtones. because it's quite dificult to see the shapes of the girl. you should make the background darker in order to put the characters forward in the picture. I like the sadness in the girl's face. The hand is so big, but since it's an exageration it's okay. I like it a lot! Your grandma seemed to be a very good person...

I like the way you get the characters looking solid and believable but at the same time surreal. Lots of great elements in this, reminds me of illustrations in some old books I used to read when I was young. I think this would benefit by alternative placement of the ladybird / bug thing in the foreground, its head is too close to the border and seems awkwardly situated. Also I think the central upper area should be "brighter" - i.e. only very softly shaded, thereby accentuating the main character +8/10

I'm very sorry for your loss Aaron, I know what it is like...
Very good work, very expressive.
It has lot’s of emotion in it, which is very good.
My only crit is that (IMO) you should create more contrast between the characters and the background, other then that…great work.

I am sorry for your loss. I also lost my grandmother somewhat recently, and I know the pain you feel. Remebering your grandmother this way is somthing I know she would love and appreciate! :)

I am having a biut of trouble reading this one. I think there should be more atmospheric perspective concerning the stuff in the background. That would make this one so much more powerful. This is for a very beautiful purpose and I think you should really think about treating this one with color. It would be spectacular.

i love this piece as well, i think the expression on the girls face is really wonderful. im sorry to hear about your grandmother, i just lost my grandmother too actually, and am currently working on a piece for her.
i know there is no getting over your grandmothers death, but just remember
to think of all the good times you had...and it will help you get through this with a little more ease, again, wonderful piece.

I like the diffrent line weights and the design that is in her hair. I'm assuming its a design , because it doesn't flow in any regular hair set. I loove the trees mostly and how the open space is the perfect type of framing. compisition wise it's excellent. I would like to see it in color , but that's entirely up to you. It's a very nice image. Fit's in well with your other works. I think it will be even better with a cleaner version and come added elements and more detail.

Condolences on your grandmother.

Hey Aaron, I like to say my heart goes to you and your loss.

When it comes to the piece i really enjoy this one. I agree with Monjo about the exaggerated features. I think some of your best pieces come when you are pushing these exaggerations. I think it would be neat to see how far you can take it in future pieces. Push also the angles of the distortions and really see some of the neat shapes you can create. You got a very nice gem of progress here. - matt
