Description

I spent some hours on this, and had fun at the same time. Matt asked me to consider being more dynamic, and using space, and I guess this was my response, though I've gone way beyond that in up coming works. More characters from "The Beautiful Gate" the boys name is Cody, and he is the main man, this is a pretty fun piece so enjoy, Please remember to take the time to comment and vote, and I mean that for all the other artists that work hard on this site, I dedicate it to them, and the inspiration they give me. Thank you Diane,Thienbo,Jimiyo ,Katea, Black keri, PjClapp, Lolita, all the others there are way to many to mention I am sorry I have not had time to check out your works or write anyone back yet! I will I swear....and wow to all the photographers, you guys leave me speechless and your animal pics have given me great inspiration as well.

One crit - I think there should be more contrast between the lizard and the tree.
It's hard to tell where the one ends and the other begins.

I'm having some difficulty with the lizards raised back leg...it seems way to thick and having it run off the frame makes it all feel a little unbalanced.
The girls hair kissing the frame is also an irritation...give her some breathing space.
Losing the right tree branch (trunk?) that touches the ground would give this a better compositional movement...snaking from bottom left and up through frame in a nice sinuous movement (which at the moment the branch touching ground breaks).
I definately prefer your less busy compositions like this...and your storytelling is getting much better (I'm wondering now why the girl looks so nervous?).

I'm imaging this in glorious colour with a lush deep tropical forest in the backround, the scales of the Chameleon glistening with his body changing colours to suit his enviroment. All sorts of odd exotic insects in the air, obviously the Chameleon does not know which would be tastyer: the carrot or the insects
If I can imagine all this from one of your drawings, then it is a very sturdy foundation and a good drawing.
Your potential is only marred by your lack of colours, that said this has still plenty of feeling. Can you imagine how great it could be though?
Nice work.

That's it.
I mean, it has potential to grow into something really cool, but...well you know my point of view.

It does give the impression that you ran out of space on the right… the girl could do with a little space behind her and the tree trunk bottom right is clipped and looses its flowing shape. Actually that part reminds me a little of Dr Seuss - it’s interestingly quirky and, though I can see Dave’s argument that the compo may be strengthened without it – I’d be reluctant to let it go too.
The girl looks to me to be more surprised than frightened… her hand is in a rather interesting place – wonder what she’s found - the lad seems unconcerned – maybe he’s being ultra cool – or maybe there’s something missing. Where did the carrot come from?

Yep, I can see movement in this one. The Lizard is awesome, you've captured the essence of the animal too me. But I have to agree with Kaduflyer on the Lizards raised back leg: it looks off. Great use of the surface and white space it's effective. I love your amazing fantasy mate, cheers.
